I haven’t been writing for a while on the Blog of Milano Lounge, because the past months have been quite hectic for me.
In January, I worked as Executive Producer for the single “La verita negli occhi” by Italian artist Gupho.
February saw the release of my first single, well, it’s not my first single but it’s the first one where it’s me singing. The title of the song is “Canzone sciocca”, silly song (available on Spotify Canzone sciocca Roberto Bocchetti).

That said, please rest assured that I am still putting my attention to Milano Lounge and – even if I do not say it – I am always adding and/or removing songs from the radio rotation.

some of you reported problems when trying to listen to Milano Lounge with a Sonos device via Tunein.
The funny thing is that the issue appears randomly on some connections only: for instance, one listener can listen from the office, but not from home.
Sonos informed me that the issue was due to Tunein. Tunein informed me that – from their side – everything seemed to work smoothly and they encountered no issues when checking.
Personally, I believe that this strange behaviour is due to the blocking by Tunein of some IPs in different geographical areas (Geo-Blocking), as Milano Lounge is authorized for Italy only.
This was done because Tunein lost a lawsuit with Warner and Sony, which took the app to London court for copyright violation.
To broadcast worldwide I should buy licenses from every Country of the world where I intend to broadcast…… With the same amount of money, I would rather buy a new flat.
Anyway, there might be some solutions to have Milano Lounge back.
By the way, thank you to all of you who listened to our Milano Lounge playlist on Spotify while unable to listen to the live station. Some of you told me the playlist was nice, but not like the real radio, which makes me very proud and proves my point that some human beings are still better in selecting music than the A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) of the computers.
When I say that Milano Lounge comes from my heart, I really mean it, it’s not a slogan! And, I am very proud to have such attentive listeners, caring for the station.

turn off your Sonos device, and unplug it for 1 minute
turn off your WIFI Modem, and unplug it for 1 minute
re-plug your WIFI Modem and turn it on
when you have full Internet connection, re-plug your Sonos and turn it on

with all the chaos of the last few days, I nearly forgot to tell you that my monthly playlist is ready for you to listen on Spotify. It includes all the new entries in our general radio rotation. The songs are not necessarily new, but have never been added before to our radio rotation.

Tunein is one of the most important platforms for listening to radio stations from all over the world.
With Tunein you can listen to over 120,000 stations (including Milano Lounge) on different devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, Smart TVs, X Box One consoles and in-car if you have an internet connected audio system.
Tunein adds some advertising when you connect to Milano Lounge, this is not our decision, because – as you probably know – Milano Lounge is commercial-free and financed by me and donations from listeners.
Unfortunately, a big fire destroyed an OVH data center in Strasbourg (France), including the new server.

Luckily, nobody was injured or killed, but the station was OFF. In a hurry, I had to set up a NEW-NEW SERVER (Oh no, not again!!!) with a different company and notify all apps and platforms of our new streaming address.
The new-new server has been set up THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF OUR LISTENERS, who made donations to help us.
I am so grateful for your donations, your words of encouragement, your worries that you couldn’t find the station anymore…..

Milano Lounge has moved to a new SSL stream, with a new powerful server and lots of room to accommodate all of our listeners….. and you are so many!!!
Yet, I hope that the audience can still grow in the future: the new server has the capacity to accommodate 1,000 simultaneous listeners. At the moment, there are between 400-500 listeners connected, so we are only at 50% capacity……..
Imagine: It’s like having a big room with 1,000 people inside, only that this room is online, which has become even more important after the Covid-19 problems.
We can virtually meet in a safe environment together, thanks to the music!
I’m very grateful that listeners of Milano Lounge are creating a real community online: you are so attentive and I love when you send me messages, pics or videos of you or your family/friends listening to Milano Lounge.
Also, thank you for your donations via PayPal and for your suggestions, many of which I implemented on the radio channel, although I can’t not reveal my “secret formula” for obvious reasons….
